And Some of The Rest...

We've concentrated on some basic tips for using Catalyst. Here are some other points that might help.

Learning and Working Together in Cyberspace is supposed to be fun

So, give your self a break. Enjoy your time here.

You are going to develop some wonderful connections here. Some things won't work exactly as you would like. But, as the old saying goes -- don't sweat the small stuff. No one else working in this environment has it all down pat either.

Moderator

Each conference has a host. Catalyst calls this person a Moderator. There may be more than one moderator for each conference, but the primary organizer's name appears in the top left corner of the main screen in a conference.

Conference moderators help welcome newcomers and acclimate them to the style and tone of the conference. They also help answer questions about how to do things in Catalyst. They facilitate discussion, settle problems, and generally keep things running smoothly so that everyone can enjoy the conference. Sometimes a conference organizer is also an expert in the subject matter of the conference.

Need More Help?

While we've covered a lot of ground, this short overview of Catalyst hasn't covered everything. We suggest that you go through this overview every few days when you are first using Catalyst. Some things that don't make much sense now will make more sense after you've used Catalyst for a while.

Don't be afraid to ask more experienced participants for help. The conference moderator will be willing to help you, too. And you can post questions in this conference, as well as e-mailing them to help@newstories.org

Catalyst also comes with a a Help section and conference for all users of the system.. Click on the

icon when you want to read the Help section. You'll find the icon at the top right of the page.
